The Carson High volleyball team continued its impressive early season start with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-22 win over Reed on Tuesday at Morse Burley Gym.

Carson (7-2) continued the momentum it has built coming off a weekend in which it went 5-2 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the high-power Las Vegas Invitational. Senator coach Shana Wilkins said she's been pleased with her team's play so far.

She also said she's been happy with new setter Shannon Earwood, who had 25 assists and a block against Reed.

"She's doing a great job," Wilkins said. "She really is.

"She's making little errors here and there, but she's allowed to. She's doing a good job so far."

After rolling in the first two games, Wilkins substituted liberally in the third game and was pleased with the play of her bench.

"They played well," said Wilkins about her bench. "They played with them the whole time. Overall our whole team played well, a lot better than we did Tuesday."

That's impressive statement since Carson swept Northern 2A power Whittell in three games on Tuesday.

Carson trailed 20-16 in the third game when it went on a 7-0 run to take control of the game and match. Nikki Keller began the run with a block and ended the run with a dink that made it 23-20. Katie McEwan also served for six straight points during the run.

Blaike King had seven kills, three blocks and three digs, Keller had five kills, one dig and four blocks and Mavel Diaz had two aces and two digs for Carson.
