A Carson City man on house arrest for third-offense drunken driving cut off his anklet and made off in his mother's vehicle Monday morning, an official said Tuesday.
A no-bail escape warrant was issued Tuesday morning for George Jerry Vigil, 35.
Vigil was serving the remainder of a 12- to 34-month sentence at his mother's home on Hells Bells Road when she found at 3:08 a.m. Monday that he'd cut off his anklet and made off in her 1997 two-door Acura with Nevada plate 022PTL.
Vigil was arrested in Carson City on third-offense DUI on Dec. 3, 2006.
Nevada Department of Parole and Probation spokesman Rich Teran said Vigil was convicted in March and served five months in prison before being released to house arrest.
"He is an inmate through the Nevada Department of Corrections. He is being supervised by us as an inmate and is subject to all the terms and restrictions of an inmate," said Teran.
He said new charges will be filed against Vigil for felony grand larceny for cutting off the bracelet, valued at $400.
Anyone with information on Vigil's whereabouts is asked to call Parole and Probation at 887-3284 during the day and 753-1111 after hours.
