SACRAMENTO " Forecasters are predicting the first big snowstorm of the year in the Lake Tahoe area.

Storms are expected to begin Thursday at noon and continue until Friday morning, dusting elevations above 5,000 feet with snow. Forecasters are predicting as much as one or two feet will fall at the highest elevations.

There hasn't been much snow yet this year, and many Tahoe resorts are creating their own in preparation for the busy holiday skiing season.

If the storms oblige, forecasters say Kirkwood, Heavenly, Squaw Valley and Mt. Rose, stand to receive the most snow.
