Drew Good, Carson: He led the team with seven assists and was second on the team with nine goals. The team captain was an all-Sierra League first team choice.

John Nuthall, Carson: Nuthall had three goals and two assists and was an all-league first team choice as a defender. He was voted by the team as the co-defensive player of the year.

Adam Updegrove, Carson: Updegrove led the team with 13 goals and added four assists. He was the Sierrra League Offensive Player of the Year and was voted by the team as its most valuable player and offensive player of the year.

Brandon Briggs, Carson: Briggs allowed just .44 goals a game this season and was an all-league second team choice at goalie. He also added an assist.

Eddie Vega, Douglas: Vega was the Sierra League's midfielder of the year, tied for the team lead in goal with 14 and led the team in assist with 16. He finished his three-year career with 36 assists, which tied the NIAA 4A state record for career assists.

Edgar Arceo, Douglas: Scored game-winning goals late in each of the Tigers' first two playoff games and then stepped up and played in the midfield through the state tournament. The sophomore had 14 goals and nine assists on the year.

Jose Alcaraz, Douglas: The MVP of the playoffs for the Tigers, Alcaraz finished his career by allowing three goals in five total playoff games. He saw time in net and on defense for the Tigers and was effective in both areas. He was playing out in the field for every game-tying or game-winning goal the Tigers had during the playoffs. He had seven shutouts on the year, had nine saves in the state semifinals and 10 in the state championship game. His performance in the state semifinal will go down in Douglas legend as he had a finger-tip save coming from behind a shot to save the game and the Tigers' season in overtime, he blocked a shot in the penalty kick shootout to set up the win and then sent the game-winning penalty kick home.

Ross Gardner, Douglas: Although he missed the latter half of the year with a knee injury, Gardner was perhaps the best defender in the region this season. He had three assists and five goals on the year.

Anthony DeMarta, South Tahoe: An all-league first team choice.

Andres Munoz, South Tahoe: An all-league first team choice.

Bryan Garcia, South Tahoe:

Abel Johnson, Fallon: He was the High Desert League's Midfielder of the Year as a junior and earned all-league first team honors this season. He had three goals and four assists.

Michele Basile, North Tahoe: He was named Northern 3A All-League and All-State MVP for his stellar play as the Lakers' primary goalkeeper and occasional striker. He had 11 shutouts and five goals as a striker. He was also a team captain.

Eric Holman, North Tahoe: He was one of three team captains, was voted to the Northern 3A All-League first team as a halfback. he had eight goals during the season.

Gerry Bolanos, North Tahoe: He was voted Offensive MVP of the Northern 3A. A superb ball-handler, he scored a league-leading 30 goals and was a constant threat with his powerful left foot. He was also a team captain and strong leader.

Emmanuel Sarabia, Truckee: He anchored the Wolverines, playing any position that needed to be filled. He was voted to the first team All-League as a utilty player. He scored 10 goals while always looking to distribute the ball to open teammates. His on-field vision and shifty moves with the ball were unmatched in 3A competition.

Max Brixey, Truckee: He was a scoring machine for the Wolverines, with an uncanny knack for finding the back of the net. He finished with 29 goals and was a constant threat to score the ball from anywhere outside the box, earning first-team All-League honors for his effort. His deft footwork always kept defenders honest, and his hustle and leadership was priceless to the Wolverines.

Abel Islas, Truckee: He was an animal in the backfield. A fearless defender who was always willing to put his body in harm's way, Islas held in check the most powerful offenses in the league by way of skilled play and aggresiveness. He could be seen in the 3A state championship frustrating North Tahoe's Gerry Bolaños. He received All-League honorable mention but can play with the best.

Honorable mention: Josh Doherty, South Tahoe; Kyle Gardner, Douglas; Alfredo Gonzalez, Fallon.

Girls soccer

Amanda Osborne, Carson: One of two players that held the Senators' midfield together, Osborne had six goals and five assists and was an all-Sierra League second team choice.

Brandi Vega, Carson: The Sierra League Offensive Player of the Year, Vega had 16 goals and 15 assists.

Kayla Sanchez, Carson: An all-league first team choice, Sanchez had 12 goals and four assists.

Becca Kane: The other player who held the Senators' midfield together, Kane had three goals and seven assists and was an all-league second team choice.

Ally Freitas, Douglas: Freitas scored 16 goals during the season for the Tigers, extending her career total to 24.

Dany Heidt, Douglas: Heidt was a crafty forward, scoring seven goals and tabbing two assists during the year.

Lisa Christen, Douglas: The senior tied for the team lead in assists and acted as the point guard of the Tiger offense, often generating the attack with her distribution from the defensive end.

Janelle Perasso, South Tahoe: Sierra League defender of the year, helped team post 16 shutouts and also added three goals and three assists.

Karli Vath, South Tahoe: Sierra League midfielder of the year, she led the team with 16 goals and was second in assists with 12.

Tess Braun, South Tahoe: Four-year varsity player led team in assists with 15 and also added 14 goals, second on the team. A first-team all-league selection at forward.

Candace Prescott, South Tahoe: Came up big in Northern 4A regional tournament, saving three shots in a penalty kick shootout victory over Spanish Springs in the first round. Part of a defense that posted 16 shutouts.

Erika Garcia, Dayton: The freshman had 40 goals overall, 36 during the regular season. She added nine assists in the regular season and 10 overall. She was named all-league first team and was the team MVP. She set the school record for most goals.

"She is one of the most humble, hard working, unselfish, coachable players that you'll ever meet," Dayton coach Tim Logan said.

Libby Walker, Galena: She scored 21 goals this season and 66 for her career. She added five assists this year and 20 for her career. She helped lead Galena to three straight Northern 4A finals. She was a three-time High Desert League Offensive Player of the Year and a four-time all-league first team choice. She has committed to play at Division I Weber State. "Libby is a remarkable young lady," Galena coach Ron Jones said.

Kate Pinder, Fallon: An all-league first team choice, Pinder had a remarkable 274 saves at goalie this season.

Chelsea Patrick, North Tahoe: She was arguably the best player on the state runner-up Lakers squad. She was voted to the Northern 3A All-League first team at halfback, but could play any position on the field. She finished with 12 goals and 11 assists and was a key leader of her team.

Michelle Zarick, North Tahoe: She was voted to the All-League first team at forward. A skilled ball-handler, Zarick scored 23 goals and dished off six assists and was a priceless team leader on the field.

Kacie Conn, North Tahoe: She earned first-team All-League recognition for her stellar play in the backfield. She always played aggressively and gave 100 percent effort. She was a big reason why goals were tough to come by against the Lakers.

Katie Dill, Truckee: She was voted to the second-team All-League as a striker, although it's hard to fathom how she could be left off the first team. She scored both goals against North Tahoe in the Northern 3A state championship game, including the game-winner on a header in extra minutes. Dill was one of three team captains.

Lauren O'Neil, Truckee: She was voted MVP of the Northern 3A. A talented midfielder, she was a team captain and solid team leader on the field. O'Neil always hustled and displayed good sportsmanship. She was an invaluable team member who could fill in at any position.

Addie Shaffer, Truckee: She was voted to the Northern 3A's first-team at halfback, although she also played defender when needed. A team captain, Shaffer was all over the field, breaking up offensive runs when not creating her own with perfectly placed and unselfish passes.

Honorable mention: Belle Fleming, Carson; Leah Kennedy, Dayton; Colleen Kern, Galena.
