Ski and Snowboard slots still open
The Carson City Recreation Division still has a limited number of openings for its Junior Ski and Snowboard program. Registrations will be held 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Recreation Office in the Carson City Community Center through Jan. 11 or until program is full.
This program is available to all children ages 9 (or in the fourth grade) to 18 years old. The program begins Jan. 27, weather permitting.
This program is a bargain at $225 per participant ($248 if nonresident); equipment is not included. For information or to check for availability, 887-2290, ext. 100.
Barn dance canceled
Tonight's weekly Barn Dance at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center has been canceled. Barn Dances will resume 6-8:30 p.m. Dec. 19. For information, call 883-0703.

Book fair raising funds for school
Scholastic Book Fair will be at Bethlehem Lutheran School 8-9 a.m., 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2:15-3:30 p.m. today through Dec. 19 in the school gym. The community is invited.
Funds raised from the book fair help to purchase books for classroom libraries at the school. Bethlehem Lutheran School is located at 1837 Mountain St. For information, call 882-9278.
Museum raffling 1930s doll house
The Children's Museum is selling raffle tickets for a Victorian doll house for $10 a ticket. This is a beautiful Victorian dollhouse with historic 1930s "It's a Wonderful Life"-era decor. Only 200 tickets will be sold. The winner will be announced once all tickets have been sold. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada is located at 813 N. 'Monkey King' kung fu show at Harrah's
"Monkey King Creates Havoc in Heaven," a nonstop kung fu-style show will take the stage at Sammy's Showroom at Harrah's Reno. The show, adapted from a legendary Chinese novel "Journey to the West," tells a story of justice, friendship and sincerity through a series of kung fu feats. Show runs today through Sunday. Breakfast with Santa scheduled
The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority is teaming up with Santa once again for the annual Breakfast with Santa fundraiser Saturday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Families can select between 7:30-9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada.
