Christmas concert to benefit church


Positive Energy, Acrobatics & Dance Studio will host a "Christmas Show of Support," 5-8 p.m. Thursday to raise spirits and funds for a new facility for the Connected Church. The fundraiser will be at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W. King St. There will be food, music, dancing and a silent auction to raise funds in the wake of the church fire. Suggested donation $10. For information call 884-3633.

The Brewery Arts Center presents its winter and spring class schedule, with new classes in pottery and children's theater.

Theater group looking for talented children


The Wild Horse Children's Theater is looking for any kind of talent Ð skits, routines, songs, dances, monologues, stand-up comedy, or kids who play instruments, for the next "Cabaret Kids."


The next Cabaret Kids will be Jan. 11 at Comma Coffee.


No auditions are necessary.

'Peanutcracker' continues Saturday


"The Peanutcracker" will be presented by Sierra Nevada Ballet at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.


Based on "The Nutcracker," this 45-minute version is a shorter, narrated version designed for families with younger children to introduce them to ballet. Sierra Nevada Ballet has presented "The Peanutcracker" to Northern Nevada audiences since 2002. Tickets are $10 all seating; $5 discount for BAC members, seniors, and students.

Pioneer Family Dance on New Year's Eve


The Pioneer Family Dance will be 8 p.m.-midnight New Year's Eve at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St. Potluck snacks and desserts, champagne or cider at midnight included in price of $12 for adults, $6 kids.

Dixie II to host dinner mystery cruises


Lake Tahoe Cruises is hosting "Murder on the Dixie," a murder mystery cruise aboard the M.S. Dixie II. Departing from Zephyr Cove Marina on Dec. 28, Jan. 20, Feb. 17 and March. 16. Guests can enjoy a four-course dinner and show off their detective skills as they try to solve the murder mystery.


The Dixie II will depart from Zephyr Cove Marina at 6:30 p.m. The cost of the cruise is $89 per person.

Eldorado to host Paul Rodgers' group


RENO - Rock in the New Year with a live, high-energy performance by the soulful, singer-songwriter Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. Rodgers appears in the Eldorado Showroom Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 31 at 10 p.m. With a soulful, bluesy swagger, the multi-talented Rodgers belts out songs and plays piano and guitar.
