Do you have a New Year's Day tradition?
Any personal hopes/goals for 2008?
Lisa Lee - director, Advocates to End Domestic Violence
It usually involves football and me doing our taxes.
One thing I do is write a list of all the things I need to do in the next year, then tape them to the wall. My first goal is to be kinder, the second is to be more organized.
Dave Goodale - president, Carson City Ministerial Fellowship
I try to watch the parade (Parade of Roses) in morning and at least one college bowl game.
Goals - finish my schooling this year (pastoral licensing), and hopefully sell our current home and find a new home.
Sheriff Ken Furlong
I have no traditions. Normally my time is split between work and family.
I hope next year we a have as great a year in all that we did this year at work. And have an even better year in 2008.
Janice McIntosh - director, Carson City Senior Citizens Center
New Year's Day is kind of an extension of Christmas. The family gets together and we eat and have fun, mostly interacting with each other and talking about the new year, and where as a family we are going. We make long-range plans for trips or volunteering.
My hopes are that we (Carson City Senior Citizens Center) will continue to provide programs for seniors and enhance some of the things we are doing, and our donors will continue to be as wonderful as they have been.
Candy Duncan, executive director of the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau
I always make some kind of bean dish because it's supposed to be good luck.
Personally, I would like to work on being more tolerant and understanding. I think we all need to work on that.
Hal Hansen, director of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada
We always watch the Parade of Roses - me, my wife and three girls - and always eat snacks and appetizers left over from New Year's Eve.
Goal for 2008 - to open up the new Boys and Girls Club.
Carson City Mayor Marv Teixeira
I vegetate and watch the bowl games.
I don't try to make resolutions - then I don't get disappointed when I break them.
