The Carson City Sheriff's Department will be conducting extra traffic enforcement today for Super Bowl. Deputies will be working overtime to reduce speeders, said Deputy Jarrod Adams.
"Traffic enforcement is a major concern in Carson City. We want people to slow down and drive safely," he said in a press release. "It has been determined that high visibility of traffic enforcement is one of the best ways to ensure compliance with speed laws."
Additional highway patrol troopers will also be on the roads today, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen.
The increase is an effort to potentially reduce the number of impaired drivers on roadways in conjunction with the national awareness campaign "Over the Limit, Under Arrest," said Allen.
Troopers will also be looking for seat belt and child-restraint violations during their traffic enforcement stops.
