Tatum Boehnke and Spencer Brinson picked up impressive wins for the Carson High girls and boys ski teams against Reno High on Friday.
Both Carson's boys and girls lost to Reno 85-62. Carson's boys and girls also picked up wins over Hug and North Valleys on Friday. Carson's boys beat Hug 90-0 and North Valleys 90-52 while the girls beat Hug 90-0 and North Valleys 89-27.
Carson's boys and girls are now 3-1 in the Sierra League. With wins of Sage Ridge and Wooster, both Senator boys and girls would qualify for the NIAA State Championships along with Reno.
In the giant slalom, Brinson won the boys race in 25.6 seconds while Boehnke won the girls race in 27.3 seconds. Also for Carson's boys, Taylor Phillips was ninth (29.8), Kevin Dyer was 10th (29.9), Andy Hook was 11th (30.2) and Clay Hollett was 12th (30.03).
Against North Valleys, Brinson was first, Phillips was second, Hollett was third, Wes Deitlein was fourth (31.4), Andrew Richards was fifth (31.8) and Levi Masterson was sixth (32.8). Against Hug, Brinson was first, Phillips was second, Hollett was third, Dietlein was fourth and Richards was fifth.
For the girls against Reno. Nicole Carlevato was eighth (32.7), Chelsea Keating was ninth (33.0), Meagan Carter was 10th (33.2) and Lisa Midboe was 12th (34.4). Against Hug, Boehnke was first, Carlevato was second, Keating was third, Carter was fourth, Midboe was fifth and Krissy Gunn was sixth (36.3). Against North Valleys, Boehnke was first, Carlevato was second, Carter was third, Midboe was fourth, Krissy Gunn was fifth (36.3) and Meridith Adler was sixth (36.5).
Conditions continue to not be the best, but Carson assistant coach Adrienne Garbiel said the CHS skiers performed well in adverse conditions.
