FALLON - A Portland, Ore., woman was in custody Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder after she allegedly shot her boyfriend in the back following an argument on Valentine's Day.

Roger Meyer, 46, was found with a gunshot wound to his back about 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Desert Rose R.V. Park in Fernley after reports of gunshots and a man calling for help, according to a Lyon County Sheriff's Department press release. He was taken by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

After interviewing witnesses and processing the scene, Meyer's live-in girlfriend, 30-year-old Jennifer Everton, of Portland, was arrested for attempted murder, the release states.

Lyon County Sheriff's Lt. Rob Hall said Meyer and Everton began arguing in the travel trailer when he exited. Everton shot Meyer in the upper left of his back while she was still inside the trailer.

Meyer was in the area on a construction job and had stayed at the R.V. park previously, said Debbie Skinner, owner of Desert Rose R.V. Park. Skinner said the couple had been at the park a month.

Everton was booked into the Lyon County Jail in Yerington on $100,000 bail. Hall said the investigation would take a couple of days, depending upon how quickly the victim recovers and is able to give a statement.
