For security reasons, Fifth Street between Carson and Stewart streets will be shut down during the afternoon rush hour today and Wednesday.
Lorne Malkiewich, director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau, said the road closure today will be from 4:45-6 p.m. in an effort to make the Legislative Building more secure as Sen. Harry Reid addresses a joint session of the Legislature.
On Wednesday, Sen. John Ensign will also be addressing the Legislature and the road will be again closed to vehicle traffic from 4:45-6 p.m.
Eastbound motorists can use Seventh Street to the south, or Musser Street, to the north of Fifth Street, to make a connection to Stewart Street. Motorists traveling west on Fifth Street to Carson Street will detour at Stewart Street.
