A memorial service for James Earl Barney, 80, a 13-year Carson City resident, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church.
Mr. Barney died Feb. 20, 2007, in Carson City. He was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Rossville, Kan., to James Earl Barney and Irene Franz.
He married Patricia Leonard Oct. 4, 1946, in Oakridge, Tenn.
Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Barney lived in Avon, Conn.
He was a research scientist, and had a Ph.D. from Kansas University.
He belonged to the United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Duane Barney.
Among his survivors are his wife; son, Alan Barney of Carson City; daughter, Anne of California; two grandchildren; and several extended-family members.
Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Memorial Fund, 400 W. King St., Carson City, NV, 89703.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
