The Silver City Advisory Board meets 7 p.m. at the firehouse office on High Street. Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month.

Case for Change discussion

The Case for Change Dinner Discussion will be March 15 at 6:30 p.m. Strategies generated from previous discussions are the new town barter board and support for new community classes and clubs. Local youth are now able to barter community service for musical instruments and lessons.

In the spirit of supporting people in helping themselves, about 10 Silver City residents will be attending a three-day conference to learn more about how to efficiently impact the political system.

Fire department seeking recruits

The Silver City Volunteer Fire Department is seeking new volunteers. The fire department is actively seeking new recruits and has created a recruitment committee including Sara Ross, Anna Coughran and Erik Fernquest. Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

Library is open Sundays

The Silver City Volunteer Library is open from 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The library is funded by donations and organized by the Silver City Task Force. It has an excellent reference section; children's section, including puzzles and crafts; periodicals; and new material every week.

New arrivals include "The 7th Tower Volumes 1-6" by Garth Nix, "Howe's Moving Castle" by Dianna Wynne Jones and "The Scion Revelation: The Truth About Guardians of Christ's Sacred Bloodline" by Lynn Pickmett. The library also has donations of doubles backgammon, checkers and sports balls thanks to Dayton Recreation Director Denise Swenson.

Starbucks pastries are available for anyone who could use extra groceries. The library is temporarily housed in the firehouse office on High Street.

Youth meetings set

The Silver City Youth Leadership, Community Service and Substance Abuse Prevention Group meets twice a month at the firehouse office with leader Sara Ross.

SAPP members also participate in community service at the Dayton Food Bank each month, with Ross as chaperone.

Youth who are active in the group will have a chance to participate in a statewide leadership conference at Lake Tahoe this summer. Call Ross at (775) 246-2725 for details.
