Scrapbooking class at senior center


There will be a class on preserving photos into albums at 10 a.m. today in the Jobs Peak Room of the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. Cost is $5.


Participants should bring a couple of packs of photos to make a sampler.

Murder mystery dinner Saturday


The Carson City Emblem Club will present "The Mafia Murders" at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 515 N. Nevada St. Cocktails will be available at 5 p.m., dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The mystery play is at 6:45 p.m. The menu is lasagna, salad, garlic bread and spumoni ice cream. Tickets are $12.50 each and are pre-sold only.

Emblem Club to hold bowling tournament


The Carson City Emblem Club will host a bowling tournament beginning at noon at the Piñon Plaza lanes Jan. 14.


The tournament is four-person teams, no-tap. Cost is $60 per team pre-registered; $75 day of tournament. Raffle tickets and prizes are also available. For a sign-up sheet, call 883-9041 or 720-9410. Sheets must be returned by Sunday.


Senior Center holds computer classes


The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be offering basic computing classes with early registration. Classes begin Monday and are from 8-10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 1-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cost is $40, payable to the center's business office. Call 883-0703, ext. 222.




Happy Senior Tours to visit Ascuaga's


Happy Senior Tours takes its monthly trip Wednesday.


This month's destination is John Ascuaga's Nugget casino in Sparks.


The bus leaves at 8:15 a.m. from the east side of the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive.


Cost of the trip is $16 per person and must be paid by Monday.

Atlantis to mark Elvis' birthday


Atlantis Casino Resort Spa will celebrate Elvis' birthday on Friday with impersonator Mike Albert and his Big E Band, featuring the Jordanaires.


Tickets are $27 in advance, or $32 day of show, plus applicable taxes.

'Come in from the Cold' series debuts Saturday


The Nevada Bluegrass Association's free performance is 7 p.m. Saturday at Bartley Ranch Regional Park's Western Heritage interpretive Center as part of this year's "Come in from the Cold" Winter Family Program Series.


There will be hot chocolate, cookies, and bluegrass music.
