James L. Breeden, 72, a 32-year Gardnerville resident, died Dec. 22, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Breeden was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Pomona, Calif., to Lynn A. and Alice Breeden.
He married Nancy L. Bell on Jan. 7, 1956, in Arizona.
Before moving to Gardnerville, Mr. Breeden lived in San Dimas, Calif.
He was an ironworker in Los Angeles, and later in Reno. He and business partner, James Blueberg, started JB Ironworks in Carson City, which he helped run for 12 years, before becoming a race horse trainer in northern California.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 2, 1999 and father in August 1989.
Among his survivors are his mother of Tifton, Ga.; daughters Lisa Connolly and Lori Holt, both of Gardnerville; sons Jay Breeden of Gardnerville and Jeff Breeden of Carson City; sister Carolyn Atkins of Tifton; brothers Gary and Robert Breeden, both of Carson City; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
