Each person who joins the National Arbor Day Foundation this month will receive 10 free flowering trees as part of the foundation's Trees for America campaign. Each new member will receive two white flowering dogwoods, two flowering crabapples, two Washington hawthorns, two American rosebuds, and two goldenrain trees.
The trees will be shipped at the right time for planting, between Feb. 1 and May 31, with planting instructions. The trees are guaranteed to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Community Coalition meets Thursday
The next meeting of the Carson City Community Coalition is 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Nevada Room of the Senior Citizens Center, 901 Beverly Drive.
The coalition is striving to empower the community to solve gang and other problems and meets regularly on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Sessions are conducted in English and Spanish. All are welcome.

New food pantry opens
The Apostolic Church of Carson City is opening a food pantry in order to assist needy families within the community.
If you are looking for a way to help your neighbors and can contribute food items, bring contributions to 1885 Long St.

D'Vine Wine to hold free 'Wine 101' classes

New theater group to hold auditions
Wildhorse Children's Theatre and The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will hold auditions for their production of "Charlotte's Web" by Joseph Robinette 10 a.m. Saturday at the museum, 813 N Carson St.
Auditioners ages 5-15 should come prepared with a poem or nursery rhyme of one minute or less.
