A Carson City man wanted for parole violation was arrested Saturday after a casino security guard recognized him from a wanted poster that ran in the Nevada Appeal.
Michael Scott Hopper, 39, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony trafficking in methamphetamine; a Fernley misdemeanor warrant for drawing and passing a check without sufficient funds; a Carson City warrant charging felony failure to appear on a drug charge; felony parole violation; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, a Carson Station Casino security guard spotted Hopper near the cashier's cage about 8 p.m. Sunday and recognized him as the man in a wanted poster which ran in the Appeal on Friday.
The security guard said he asked Hopper for identification to confirm who he was and when the officer asked him to the security office, Hopper allegedly tried to run.
He was captured by two security officers who cuffed him and called for police.
When a Carson City deputy arrived, Hopper was allegedly found to be in possession of 4.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale and a bundle of small plastic bags.
Hopper is being held without bail.
