A gathering of the friends and family of Lucille Lena Butler, 89, a 28-year Zephyr Cove resident, will be noon-3 p.m. Sunday at 150 Ponderosa Drive in Carson City.
Mrs. Butler died Jan. 30, 2007, in Carson City. She was born July 13, 1917, in Cupar, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Charles W. Newkirk and Eva Shaw.
She moved from Canada to Long Beach, Calif., in 1927.
Before moving to Zephyr Cove, Mrs. Butler lived in El Segundo, Calif., for 42 years.
She graduated from Long Beach Poly High School in 1934.
She married Francis "Fred" Henry Butler on June 3, 1937, in El Segundo.
She was a homemaker.
Among her survivors are her husband of 70 years of Zephyr Cove; son Kenneth B. Butler of Crescent City, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Sunny Butler of Woodinville, Wash.; daughter, Karen F. Madrid of Cedaredge, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Ruth Newkirk of San Pedro, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
