The former athletic director for Yerington High School surrendered to authorities Monday on an arrest warrant accusing him of having sex with a female student.
The criminal complaint filed Friday in Walker River Township Justice Court charges Kevin Joseph Kegel, 28, with one count of sexual conduct by a school employee with a pupil ages 14 or 15, and two counts of sexual conduct by a school employee with a pupil ages 16 or 17.
The complaint alleges Kegel had sexual relations with the same girl in August and November 2006 and January 2007.
The case, originally reported to the Yerington Police Department, was handled by the Nevada Division of Investigation.
An affidavit in support of an arrest warrant for Kegel was sealed by the courts, thus the details of the allegation were not available.
Kegel, the school's athletic director as well as a physical education teacher, was terminated in late June following a vote by the Lyon County School District Board of Trustees.
