The Carson 14-year-old Babe Ruth all-stars pulled off a mammoth comeback, overcoming an 8-0 deficit to beat South Tahoe 14-13 on Saturday at South Reno's Jack Tighe Field.
Carson scored five runs in the second inning to pull within 8-5. Carson came back to take an 11-10 lead in the fifth, but South Tahoe scored three in the sixth to take a 13-11 lead. Carson, though, scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the win.
Bryce Altus, who went 3-for-4, drove in the winning run. Mark McCraw went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a double, Connor Beattie was 4-for-5 with a double, Clay Holton had a huge game as he went 5-for-5 with a double and five RBI and Jacob Price was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.
Holton struck out five over five innings and Austin Law pitched a scoreless seventh, striking out the side to pick up the win. Carson will next play in the winner's bracket at 8 p.m. on Monday.
