There is a basketball camp I highly recommend for local boys and girls who are heading to high school and want some instruction from Carson High School basketball coaches Bruce Barnes and Carlos Mendeguia.

It's two days of great fundamentals and hands-on techniques. For those wanting to play at the middle school level, you can pick up some great pointers.

Thursday, I hit the farmers market in Carson City at the Pony Express Pavilion in Mills Park. I have to say that after spending all my summer on an orchard in Washington state at my grandparents', I can tell tasty fruit and hate to settle for less.

I purchased the best peaches there and some amazing tomatoes, so if you haven't checked out the vendors at the Pavilion, go see the great selection.

This year promises to be fun and romantic with "Romeo and Juliet" balanced nicely with "The Taming of the Shrew" at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.

Sand Harbor is the place to grab a picnic basket full of wine, cheese and crackers or purchase a nice meal on site to check this venue out.

Continuing from last year's success of featuring a third play on Monday nights, the festival has a little something for everyone. "Greater Tuna," a hilarious comedy about Texas' third-smallest town, Tuna, where the Lions Club is too liberal, and Patsy Cline never dies.

Now that sounds funny, especially if you're not into Shakespeare. I highly recommend the July 29 "Romeo and Juliet;" it will be on the full moon night.
