Bub Madrid's RBI single capped a three-run rally in the ninth inning to give the Reno Silver Sox a thrilling 8-7 win over the Chico Outlaws on Saturday in Chico.
Carson High graduate Dusty Bergman gave the Silver Sox a solid start, allowing six runs, four earned, over seven innings. Bergman had one bad innings, allowing five runs in the fourth that allowed Chico to take a 5-2 lead, but was otherwise solid.
In the ninth, Victor Hall walked and Juan Senreiso singled Hall to third.
After Senreiso stole second, Kane Simmons followed with a two-run single to tie the score 7-7. Madrid then hit his go-ahead single to give the Silver Sox an 8-7 lead.
Reno took a 2-0 lead in the first on Senreiso's RBI single and an RBI double by Jose Rodriguez. In the sixth, Mike Done doubled and Sam Walker followed with an RBI double. Maurice Cole then hit an RBI single for Reno to cut the deficit to 5-4. Hall's solo home run tied it 5-5 in the top of the seventh.
Chico scored runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth to take a 7-5 lead. Despite allowing a run in the eighth, Adam Nikolic picked up the win. Eric Thomas pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the save.
Cole and Senreiso both had three hits and Rodriguez, Madrid and Done all added two hits.
