Local competitors Alyce Kugler and Jonathon Glocknitzer look to be out of contetion for making the championship round at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Springfield, Ill.

Kugler of the Carson-Dougals Rodeo Club turned in solid performances in her two go-rounds on Wednesday, but it may not be enough to make Saturday's finals. Kugler finished eighth in girls cutting in Wednesday morning's go-round with a 208 score and took ninth on Wednesday night with a 209.

With still preliminary rounds to go today and Saturday, it's not likely that Kugler will be among the top 20 overall finishers to advance to Saturday's finals.

Gardnerville's Glocknitzer, competing as an independent, finished 13th in Thursday morning's go-round with a 196. He took ninth in his other go-round and it's also not likely that he'll advance to the finals.

Also from the Carson-Douglas Club, Corey Hershkowitz will compete in his second go in bareback riding on Saturday. He was bucked off in his first go.
