Parents in the Mark Twain and Riverpark areas with children in kindergarten through fifth grades can start enrolling their children for the new Riverview Elementary School for the 2007-08 school year.

The school is still under construction, but will be ready by fall.

Students not enrolled at Dayton Elementary or Sutro Elementary can apply to Riverview.

Students who are enrolled at Dayton or Sutro and are zoned to attend Riverview for the next school year will automatically be enrolled at Riverview.

The zones for Riverview run from the Storey County line with the western boundary being Six Mile Canyon Road to Highway 50, then west to Cardelli Road, south from there to the river, east to the Stagecoach border and north back to the Storey County line.

Enrollment forms, which are available at any Lyon County school, can be dropped off weekdays at the temporary office for Riverview Elementary School, which is at Dayton High School, 335 Old Dayton Valley Road.

Parents should bring a current immunization record, a certified birth certificate and proof of residency.

The first day of school is Aug. 27. For information, contact Kathy Arnote at 246-6240.

• Contact reporter Karen Woodmansee at kwoodmansee@nevadaappeal.com or 882-2111, ext. 351.
