Flows continue to be very low from Oroville to Gridley making salmon fishing a bit tougher. Angler's casting large No. 6 Blue Fox spinners from the bank around the outlet have caught some nice springers to 40 pounds. Most fish have averaged 12-25 pounds.
HINKSON SLOUGH, NEV (on the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area): Elmer Bull reported: Saturday afternoon, there was only one fisherman. I think that all of the high school graduations kept everyone at home for the weekend.
JUNE LAKE LOOP, CALIF: Steven Osterman: Current flow in Rush Creek is 50 CFS. Try Pheasant Tail Nymphs, flash back Hares Ears and black ants. SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Dave Jacobs/Hank Mautz (Professional Guide Service) (800-355-3113):
Rainbows: Trout fishing near Redding was very good this past week for wild rainbow trout. Multiple hook-ups were common with many double, even triple hook-ups side-drifting Glo Bugs. Side drifting small hand tied Glo Bugs in various egg color patterns proved best early in the mornings. Natural cured roe tipped with a Quickie puffball also scored some great fishing for wild rainbows. Most trout averaged 1-3 pounds with the occasional large rainbow 4-5 pounds. 25 hook-ups are average with better scores of 40 plus hook-ups possible on good days. Redding to Red Bluff has been most productive water.
Shad: Fishing is starting to build in the upper reaches of the river from Red Bluff to Chico with better fishing downstream near Chico.
Side drifting small 1/16 to 1/32 ounce jigs with small one inch curly tailed grubs have been best.
LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:
Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): We've been trolling at 50-240 feet deep. On Tuesday, a lady from Illinois caught and released a 34-inch Mack.
LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: Fishing has been good early in the mornings. I've been fishing 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): Not a lot going on, even with Free Fishing Days. I think it probably had to do with the Carson Valley Days celebration. Hardly anyone was fishing.
