Carson City Library's annual Kiwanis Breakfast for Books will be 8-10 a.m. Saturday on the library lawn, 900 N. Roop St.

This is the kick-off of the library's Summer Reading Program. Feast on pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee - all served hot by Kiwanis of Carson City.

Entertainment for children will include reading to therapy dogs and face painting, and youths who sign up for the reading program during the breakfast will receive a special book bag.

Tickets can be purchased in the library's youth department or Browser's Corner Bookstore located in the lobby.

Overdue fines can be waived with the advance purchase of an adult or family ticket. Take the ticket to Information Desk.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $3 for kids and $15 for families.

The theme this year is "Get a Clue at the Carson City Library." Children earn rewards for time spent reading on their own or with a parent.

Kiwanis of Carson City and Friends of the Carson City Library are the sponsors. Kiwanis will donate proceeds from the breakfast to the library's youth department. Friends of the Carson City Library will host a book sale.

For details about library's Summer Reading Program, which runs through Aug. 4, pick up a calendar of events at the youth desk, check the library Web site at www.carson-city.nv.us/library, or call 887-2244.

The library is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday, Friday, and Saturday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
