Flight of memories

Years ago, this writer flew in several of the planes displayed at the Carson City Airport Open House on June 2, including the SA-16, the Romanian trainer, and the AT-6 trainer single-engine planes.

Perhaps I spent the most time in the B-25, a different version than the armed one at the show. I rode in the back as a student of radar and aerial photography. No guns, no bombs, just the crew and an instructor and two students aboard.

As a squadron adjutant, I also was in charge of four AT-6s and one B-25 used by flight officers to get their four hours of air time in monthly while attending tech schools at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver.

I shamefully admits that I made sure I was included in any of those training flights to places such as Las Vegas.
