Lauderbaugh receives state recognition

Carson City native Barron Keith Lauderbaugh has been named as the Special Olympics Nevada 2007 Coach of the Year.

Lauderbaugh became involved in Special Olympics in the early 1970s with his brother, an Special Olympics athlete. Lauderbaugh has continued to this day as a coach for multiple sports and an anchor for Carson City's program. Lauderbaugh was honored at the first Greater Nevada Credit Union Dinner of Champions held on Saturday at the Governor's Mansion.

Among Lauderbaugh's athletes is Colleen Stainbrook, who will represent Team USA at the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai, China in October.
