WNC honors Morrison, Reynolds as instructors

The Western Nevada College United Students Association has named their Outstanding Instructors of the Year for the 2006-07 academic year.

Mathematics instructor Scott Morrison was honored by WNC Carson City/Douglas students and English instructor Kathy Reynolds was chosen by the WNC Fallon/Rural Centers student body.

"The students at Western work very hard to balance school, work and family responsibilities, and as an instructor I am privileged to witness each student's commitment to success on a daily basis," Morrison said. "I am so appreciative of the dedication the students show throughout the semester and this award is a pleasant reminder that our hard work does not go unnoticed."

Morrison just finished his first year of teaching at WNC, coming to the college from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is a graduate of UNR with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and a Master of Science degree in pure mathematics.

"It's an honor to be chosen, and quite a surprise," Reynolds said. "I was delighted, amazed and shocked all at the same time."

Reynolds started as an adjunct instructor at WNC in 1994 and became a full-time instructor in 2002. She teaches English, core humanities and an online classical mythology class at the Fallon campus. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in literature from the University of California, San Diego, and her Master of Arts degree in English from Temple University.
