Alyce Kugler of the Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club looks to be well on her way to a return trip to the National High School Rodeo Finals after the first go-round of the Nevada State High School Rodeo Finals in Winnemucca.

Cory Hershkowitz also looks to be in a strong position to join his Carson-Douglas teammate at nationals.

After the complete of the first go on Friday, Kugler finished tied for first in girls cutting with Chelsea Hooper. Both girls finished with a score of 145.

Hershkowitz was just one of three riders to score in bareback riding. He was in second with a 68 as he trails first place Cameron Hopper-Craig, who scored a 69.
