An October trial date has been set for a Carson City man accused of repeatedly raping a 7-year-old boy.
Gerald Karpe, 42, remains in the Carson City Jail on $100,000 bail since his arrest July 21 on suspicion of felony rape of a victim under 16.
According to court documents, Karpe is accused of assaulting the child at least nine times at Karpe's Champion Street mobile home.
A sexual assault examination performed on the boy found injuries consistent with rape, according to court records.
Karpe was questioned by detectives and denied any wrongdoing. He admitted having the child to his home to play video games, but resisted any suggestion he'd hurt the boy, the reports indicate.
"Based on the child's interviews, his consistent statements and knowledge of the sexual acts performed, his mother's statements referencing (his) bed-wetting and behavioral change (and) the positive findings during the rape exam, I believe probable cause existed for the arrest of (Karpe)," wrote Detective Keith Bopko in Karpe's arrest report.
The original trial date of May 22 was vacated so the boy could undergo a psychological evaluation.
In other court action:
The sentencing of Mark David Fiddler, 50, was continued until the end of July.
He faces two to 10 years in prison on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon in the Feb. 1 shooting of Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Josh Stagliano in the wrist.
Fiddler was initially charged with attempted murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge in May.
The case was continued because Fiddler's attorney is in a separate trial in California.
