ELKO (AP) - A man accused of carjacking three separate vehicles at gunpoint while leading police on a wild chase across Northern Nevada has been arrested, authorities said.

Anthony Fairbanks, of Silver Springs, was found hiding in a crawl space beneath a residence in that community Sunday night, the Lyon County sheriff's office said. He was arrested without incident about an hour later.

No one was injured during the string of incidents that began over the weekend near Elko.

The chase began Saturday afternoon when Fairbanks fled being stopped for a traffic violation on Nevada Route 278 in Eureka County, authorities said.

A short time later, he headed east on Interstate 80 at speeds of more than 100 mph until he bumped a car from behind and ordered a family out of it.

He's accused of carjacking two other vehicles in his effort to get away, authorities said.
