A celebration of life for Willie V. Briam, 92, a Wellington resident for the past 31 years, will be from 3-6 p.m. Saturday in the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Center, 4001 Carter Way, Wellington.

Mr. Briam died April 15, 2007, at home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1914, in El Paso, Texas.

Before moving to Wellington, he lived at Lake Tahoe and Pomona, Calif.

He graduated from Marfa High School and attended two years of college in Alpine, Texas.

He married Gwen Shipley in 1939 in Marfa, Texas.

He married Ann Weaver in 1976 at Lake Tahoe.

Mr. Briam worked as a clerk typist, barber and funeral home manager in Pomona.

Mr. Briam was a member of the Unity Church of Today, the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Topaz Chapter and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Association.

He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal and received the American Theater Victory Medal and good-conduct medals.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Jr. in 2004; and sisters Helen Chaffin of Odessa, Texas, in 1999 and Elaine of Flint, Texas.

Among his survivors are his daughter-in-law Susan Briam of Fresno, Calif.; stepchildren Charlotte Weaver of Wellington, Belinda Olinger of Lompoc, Calif., Keith Weaver of San Jose, Calif., Chile Weaver of Las Vegas and Diond Weaver of San Diego; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Pomona Valley Memorial Park in Pomona.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
