Free cholesterol screenings in March


United Blood Service has declared March Donor Appreciation Month. Donors will receive a special "Got Blood?" T-shirt and a certificate for a free six-inch sandwich from Subway. Carson Democrats to meet tonight


The Carson City Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Plaza Hotel Conference Center, 211 E. Ninth St. Guest speaker is Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley. 'Professional Night' open to public tonight


D'Vine Wine & Bistro's first "Professional Night" will be at 6 tonight at the restaurant. Mary Caporale, a financial advisor with Edward Jones, is the chosen professional. Fire department to hold terrorist training


The Carson City Fire Department will be holding a Mass Casualty/Terrorist emergency training exercise from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the city's Corporate Yard, 3303 Butti Way. The scenario will involve a school bus filled with Carson High students being "hijacked." The gunman takes the bus driver and students hostage and recklessly speeds through the community. Many aid units will be participating in this training exercise, and students from Carson High will portray injured victims. Call 887-2220 ext. 1018.


D'Vine wine 101 beginner classes to continue on Thursday


D'Vine Wine & Bistro will be holding the third in it's series of beginners' wine classes, "Wine 101," at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Private Room. Gardening series starts tonight


Local horticulturist Bill Carlos will be giving a series of six weekly workshops at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden at the Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, from 9 a.m.-noon each Wednesday starting this week. Cost is free, but participation is limited to the first 30 individuals, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call 785-4153.
