The Carson City student ambassadors for People to People 2007 are sponsoring a lasagna dinner fundraiser at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Governors Mansion, 606 Mountain St.
Proceeds will assist the students with their four-country educational journey to France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. The junior high school group of students, with their chaperones, will become part of the 50-year tradition, founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, promoting world peace through increased understanding between citizens of the world.
A no-host bar opens at 6 p.m. with the lasagna dinner starting at 7. A 50/50 raffle will take place at 8:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are available for $10 from any Carson City student ambassador or by contacting John Copoulos at 885-7907.
'The Legend of Kate Shelley' program Wednesday
The Nevada State Railroad Museum will be holding a presentation by Shannan Hodgman on the historical tale of heroine Kate Shelley of Iowa at 7 p.m. Wednesday. For information, call 687-6953.

'Birds and the Bees' at Comma Coffee Tuesday
The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Sheryl Adams and local poets will be holding an evening of jazz and poetry, "the Birds and the Bees," from 8-10 p.m. Tuesday at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St. Admission is $5 general, $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association, and free for those aged 18 and under.
