Penny Marsh of Model Dairy in Reno reported that the annual Model Dairy Charity Fishing Derby was held at Pyramid Lake on March 10-11.
That two-day derby was sponsored by Model Dairy of Reno, who will distribute 100 percent of the proceeds from the event to a number of different children's organizations such as Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada and Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA).
The winners were:
First Place Team of Jason Pierce, Griffin Pierce, Jeff Morris and Jason Langslet with a total weight of 62.03 pounds won $1,500. This team also won last year.
Second Place Team of Scott Anderson, Jeff Winters, Joe Clark and Keith Arnold with a total weight of 60.96 pounds won $1,200.
Third Place Team of Bobby Wheeler Jr., Nathan Wheeler, Doran Wheeler and Bobby Wheeler Sr. with a total weight of 60.33 pounds won $1,000. This team took fourth last year.
Fourth Place Team of Peter Thompson, Mark Thompson, Sara Natts and Jeff Taylor with a total weight of 51.71 pounds won $800.
The heaviest cutthroat was caught by James Dobson. It weighed 11.88 pounds and measured 29.5 inches. It won $2,000.
The second heaviest was caught by Sara Natts. It weighed 11.10 pounds and measured 29.5 inches. It won $1,000.
The third heaviest was caught by Kody Bates. It weighed 10.81 pounds and measured 29.5 inches. It won $500.
