A Dayton teenager was injured this morning after he was struck by a truck as he tried to cross Highway 50 East on his skateboard.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Blair Harkleroad said the accident happened

about 6:40 a.m. when the unidentified teen was in the center of the highway at

Riverboat Road and 50 East.

Michael Brammer, 42, of Dayton, was making a left turn onto the highway

from Riverboat Road when he struck the teen.

Harkleroad said the highschooler was alert and talking when authorities

arrived. As a precautionary measure, he was taken from the scene to a Reno

hospital by helicopter.

Troopers were not able to get the boy's name at the accident.

Eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane for about 90 minutes.
