Darrell Rasner should find out today if he's made the New York Yankees 25-man roster.
Yankees manager Joe Torre is expected to name his roster that will begin the regular season today. Rasner, a 1999 Carson High graduate, had been making a strong bid to be on the opening day roster as he had allowed just two earned runs in 12 innings during spring training.
But that was until Wednesday when Rasner was roughed up in his start against the Houston Astros, allowing seven runs in 4.2 innings.
There's also the situation involving Jeff Karstens, whose among the pitchers who's competing with Rasner for a spot on the roster. Karstens, who's been bothered by a stiff elbow, threw on Thursday and said he felt fine.
The Yankees still don't know if they're going to place Karstens on the 15-day disabled list. Karstens is scheduled to throw again from halfway up the mound on Saturday.
