The Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club's Cory Hershkowitz had an outstanding effort in bareback riding over the weekend at the Washoe County High School Rodeo.
Hershkowitz took second in Saturday's go-round with a 59 and won Sunday's go-round with a 71. Other top finishers for Carson-Douglas included Karysa Perez taking ninth in pole bending on Sunday and Byron Kreck taking sixth and fifth in the two go-rounds in boys cutting.
Supermodified race is postponed
The American Speed Association/Western States Supermodified Racing League's Saturday race at Tucson Raceway Park has been postponed until further notice.
Track officials recently applied a sealer to the track to fill in cracks and create a more adhesive surface for racing.
After last Saturday's stock car race, officials noticed the sealant was balling and coming up from the grip of the stock car tires and have chosen to postpone the supermodifieds race, until the surface can be resealed again and adequately "cured."
The ASA/WSSRL's next scheduled race is June 1-2 at Meridian Speedway in Meridian, Idaho, for the coveted Diamond Cup.
All teams from Northern Nevada are expected to make the race.
