Residents sought to serve on advisory panels

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking residents to volunteer on various advisory panels.

There is one opening on the Library Board of Trustees. Its members oversee policy and budget needs of the public library and are asked to devote up to eight hours and attend one meeting each month. The term ends June 2011.

Apply until June 1.

Two openings available on the Planning Commission require up to 16 hours of time and attendance at one meeting each month. The commission oversees matters of planning and zoning, land use and growth management.

Both terms end June 2011, and applications can be submitted until June 15.

The Historic Resources Commission seeks a professional architect or resident designer to help with the review and decision-making about projects and policies that focus on property within the city's historic district.

The group meets once a month and requires up to 10 hours of commitment each month.

The city is accepting applications until the opening is filled.

The Wildlife Advisory Board is seeking an outdoors enthusiast or someone who is a rancher or farmer to serve up to six hours a month through July 2010. The group focuses on wildlife management. Meetings are held as needed, but are more frequent during hunting and fishing seasons.

Supervisors ultimately decide which applicants are named to these panels.
