Lottery should be established to support education

Dear State Legislators,

Thank you for your hard work and devotion to improving the state of Nevada. This past week, while eating lunch with my fellow teachers, many of us expressed support for the lottery to improve funding for public education.

Over the weekend, I updated my Web site http://democracyrocksinnevada.org to include a request for a work session and public hearing, as well as some proposed amendments.

I feel that there is a lot of support for AJR 5, but teachers are not aware of hearings, work sessions and their right to suggest an amendment. Many teachers are also not aware of how convenient it is to testify right here in Las Vegas at the Grant Sawyer Building.

I am uncertain of the total amount of support/e-mail you will receive, but would like for you to seriously consider putting AJR 5 back on the agenda and schedule a public hearing before the next deadline.

Baer should build casino - no matter where

Absolutely - let Max build! Although I live in Lyon County, you have my support where ever you build Max. This opportunity should have been embraced years ago. To quote a very popular movie phrase, "If you build it they will come!"

Minden resident ready for 'hillbilly' casino

I am writing to show my support for Max Baer Jr. and the Jethro's Beverly Hillbillies Mansion and Casino. I think it would be a wonderful addition to our valley. It is just a delightful idea. I support this project for the financial benefits it could bring Douglas County.

Our Valley is growing and I would love to have something fun to do right in our own backyard. I have read previous comments that this would hurt new home development. How many empty "neighborhood friendly" developments do we need in this valley?

Look at all the homes that are for sale and nothing is moving! Wouldn't it be nice to have something to draw people to our valley.

Plus Jethro BHC is not only just a casino, it will have a movie theater, a showroom and conference facilities.

Carson City missed opportunity for casino

Well friends, our city government has created more business for Douglas County. Max Baer's Hillbilly Casino will be a great asset as well as a major tax source for Douglas County.

Meanwhile, we in Carson City look forward to major budget problems and probable gain in taxes. Aren't we lucky to have such wonderful city government?

'Hillbillies' casino, sans derrick, will benefit both communities

Clearly Mr. Baer has made a sensible decision in dropping his insistence on an environmentally and aesthetically offensive flaming derrick. The new location for his endeavor is more sensible and the existing Wal-Mart building can add to his profits when used in a way more suited to its location.

This seems a winning plan and should benefit both Carson City and Douglas County.
