Viewing for Richard E. Farmer, 71, a Minden resident for the past 14 years, will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's.

Mr. Farmer died May 12, 2007, of cancer. He was born Aug. 24, 1935, in Merced, Calif.

He joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17 and served during the Korean War.

He worked at Aerojet General Corporation in Rancho Cordova, Calif., for 36 years before his retirement.

He had been a flat track motorcycle racer, enjoyed bird hunting, earned his private pilot's license and enjoyed attending air shows. After retirement, he enjoyed camping, four wheeling on quads, bird hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by son Ronald in 1982.

Among his survivors are his wife Duella "Dee"; sisters Lorraine and husband Paul Sapunar and Linda Borge; brothers Lawrence, Paul, Charles, Gary and Jerry and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation will be in Rocklin, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
