The four candidates for Lyon County manager that were interviewed May 3 may have additional competition.
Human Resources Director Steve Englert said the commissioners have asked for a report from the panel of elected and appointed officials that interviewed the four before the commissioners did.
Englert said the commissioners have several options and that he expects to receive some direction from them today.
"They could hire one of the four who was interviewed, or call them back for a second interview," he said.
Jerry McKnight, of Fallon; Lionel "Lon" Bushey, of Wisconsin; Ron Stock, of Florida; and Jim Park, of Gardnerville; are seeking the job left open by the Feb. 15 firing of Donna Kristaponis.
Englert also said the board could also ask him to bring forward additional applicants or hire a professional executive search firm.
"That doesn't mean the four that we interviewed were ruled out," he said. "It just means we want more options."
He said his recommendation to the commissioners would be to allow him to find more applicants.
Professional search firms can be expensive, Englert said, but he has collected information from several in case that is what the commissioners decide to do.
"It's a substantial fee, 10 percent to 20 percent of the (manager's) annual salaries," he said.
Though Bob Hadfield's contract is set to expire in June, Englert said the interim manager has agreed to continue as long as he is needed.
"We're not in any hurry to move forward with the process based on our current interim manager," Englert said.
