Carson City's Robert Perez continued to make his mark in motocross racing in the American Motorcross Association National Championship area qualifier held this past weekend.
Perez, a 17-year-old senior at Silver State High School won the C class at the area qualifier held in Honey Lake, Calif. Perez qualified for the Nortwest Regional qualifier to be held May 26-28 in Washington.
Perez also qualified for the regional qualifier in the MX Lites C Stock class and the MX Lites C Modified class. At the regional qualifier, Perez will be racing for the right to be in the nationals to be held this summer at the Loretta Lynn's complex in Tennessee.
Perez has been racing for only two years. Among his sponsors are Answer Racing, Dubach Racing Development, Osiris Shoes, Acerbis, Dunlop Tires, Decal Works, Pro Taper, Spy, Twin Air, R & D Racing, and Enzo Suspension.
Alexander Clinic will be held on Sunday
The 15th annual Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinic will be held from 11:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, May 20 at Empire Ranch Golf Course.
The clinic is free for boys and girls ages 6-17 and their parents. During the event, The Great Golf Ball Blizzard will be held. Participants can buy numbered golf balls and watch them be dropped from a helicopter to see if their ball is the lucky winner.
Boys and girls attending will also receive a free pare of Sundog sport sunglasses. Special guest will be one of the world's premiere trick shot artists, Ben Witter.
The event presented by the Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation and the Sierra Nevada Chapter PGA will provide instruction from PGA golf professionals, lunch, t-shirts and prizes. Registration on the day of the event will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
