H. Keith Harrison, a Washoe Valley resident for the last two years, died May 16, 2007, in Washoe Valley.
He was born Dec. 10, 1919, in Springville, Utah, to Winfred Homer and Martha Fereday Harrison.
He married Emilie Zelda Bosen on Sept. 20, 1941, in Malad, Idaho.
She preceded him in death in 1965,
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1940-45.
After his discharge, he earned a Ph.D. degree in botany from the University of California, Berkeley. He taught several years in the botany department at Montana State University in Bozeman, and then at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
After his retirement, he was director of the Natural Science Museum at Weber State until 2005.
He was very interested in alpine flora, and spent his summers in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.
He was a pianist and composer.
Among his survivors are his children David Harrison and Sylvia Harrison, both of Washoe Valley, and Theresa Harrison of Wichita, Kan.; and grandchildren Christopher D. Harrison, Marilee Harrison, Laurie Pinhiero, David C. Harrison, Maureen Dolan, Meredith Nurse, Roger Christian Speed and Jordan Alexander Speed.
