Though the days may grow longer as summer draws near, many people will still find there simply isn't enough time in a day.
One Carson City woman is offering an answer.
Anne McDowell can't promise longer days, but she can help people make better use of the time there is.
McDowell is lifestyle manager at the recently opened As You Wish Concierge Service, 1027 S. Carson St., Suite M. The agency promises all the amenities of a typical hotel concierge and more, independent of a hotel.
The name, she says, has to do with the business's motto. "We want it to be personal - what you want, as you wish it to be."
In addition to running typical errands such as grocery shopping and picking up the dry-cleaning, agency employees are also available to house- and pet sit and "just whatever needs to be done," McDowell said.
"People give us their 'to-do' list," she says. "It's just about saving people time."
McDowell, an energetic woman with 10 years as a Mary Kay sales director under her belt, is enthusiastic about her new undertaking.
"It's really a huge, fun business," she said.
The agency, owned by Compass Enterprises, is new to Carson City, but McDowell says she already has about two dozen clients.
She hopes to assist a variety of people, from senior citizens to working mothers.
"Everybody needs a little help," she said. "It's nice when you're working full-time to have somebody to be able to do your errands for you."
McDowell said the agency also plans to serve Douglas and Lyon counties.
She is a graduate of Carson High School and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Before working for Mary Kay, McDowell owned and operated Never Say Goodbye antiques in Carson City.
With customer service at the forefront of all her endeavors, McDowell said the concierge service isn't a huge jump for her. "It's all about providing a better way of life," she said. "I am so excited about it. I think it's a fabulous thing."
