Nevada legislators and the public will take a look at the Silver State's first "Bizmobile" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday on the Legislative Mall.

The Nevada Business Express bus will stop in eight rural Nevada cities for free expos and business advice for individuals who want to start or grow their businesses. Nevada's future depends on small business and the NCED is committed to helping those businesses succeed.

The specially designed "shrink wrapped" Nevada Business Express bus, filled with state workers and business experts will leave Carson City early Monday for a whistle-stop tour of rural Nevada cities organized by The Nevada Commission on Economic Development (NCED).

Carson City Chamber announces new officers

The following are the new Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce officers and directors for fiscal year July 1 through June 30:

New to the board this year are Jane Auerswald and Scott Dockery.

The oath of office will be conducted at the chamber's annual meeting, July 10 at the WNCC ballpark.

Contractors board awards $83K from recovery fund

The Nevada State Contractors Board Residential Recovery Fund Committee awarded 13 homeowners a total of $83,004.45 from the Recovery Fund on May 23.

The Residential Recovery Fund was established by the Nevada Legislature in 1999. It offers protection to Nevada owners of single-family residences who conduct business with licensed contractors for the performance of any construction, remodeling, repair or improvement. An owner must occupy the residence to qualify.

An applicant's eligibility to receive funds is determined after an investigation is conducted by the contractors board. The fund was designed to assist in providing relief to homeowners when they have been damaged by licensed contractors.

Contractors are required by law (NRS 624.400 Ð 624.560) to provide information to a homeowner regarding the Residential Recovery Fund upon establishment of a residential contract with the homeowner. To be considered for the fund, a complaint must be filed with the contractors Board within four years after the completion of work.

A single claim cannot exceed $35,000 and claims against a single contractor cannot exceed $400,000.
