A captain with the Nevada Department of Public Safety who was attempting to break up an argument between two men and a woman outside Parole and Probation offices on West Nye Lane was jumped by the group, one of whom then wrestled away his gun Wednesday night.

Sheriff Kenny Furlong said Carson City deputies got a report of people arguing near Nye Lane and North Carson Street about 6 p.m. Around the same time, Furlong said, an employee at the state office building told the captain of the fight outside.

When the officer, whose name was not released, approached the group, one of the men allegedly appeared to reach for a weapon, Furlong said.

The officer then pulled out his handgun, and after determining that the man didn't not have a weapon, he put his handgun back into his holster, said Furlong

"And then all three of them attacked him," the sheriff said. "During the assault, one of the men grabbed his gun and put the gun to the officer's head and threatened him."

Furlong said it's unclear if the man who allegedly held the gun saw the approaching patrol deputies, or became spooked for another reason, and he took off through the field behind Jiffy Lube on South Carson Street. He was later apprehended by deputies in the parking lot of Meeks Lumber.

William Nattress, 21, of Placerville, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, battery on a police officer, robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a stolen firearm. His bail was set at $75,000.

A 15-year-old Placerville boy and a Vivian Leman, 28, were apprehended near the office building. The juvenile was sprayed with pepper spray during his arrest. Leman, dressed in pajama bottoms, screamed obscenities from the back of a patrol vehicle and took the blame for the incident.

"It's my fault!" She yelled.

The teen pleaded with officers to wash his face off.

"I can't breathe. Please help me. I have asthma," he yelled repeatedly as police tried to restrain him. An ambulance was called to clean his face off and tend to an injury above his eye.

Leman, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of accessory to attempted murder and battery on a police officer. Her bail was also set at $75,000.

The 15-year-old is being held at juveniles detention on suspicion of accessory to attempted murder, battery on police officer and minor consuming.

Nattress argued with officers that he'd never had a gun.

Deputies recovered the weapon from on top of a shed near where Nattress was apprehended.
