Asperger's skills group holding first meeting Monday

Junior Ski Program registration begins Monday
Registrations are being taken for the Carson City Recreation Division's annual Junior Ski Program on 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m.-noon Dec. 8 in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. The program is available to all children ages 9 (or in the fourth grade) to 18. The program begins Jan. 20, weather permitting, and offers six Sundays of fun on the slopes; transportation to and from the Community Center and Diamond Peak; special "reduced-rate" family ski days, lift tickets; and ski or snowboard instruction. Bids begin Monday for Festival of Trees auction
The Nevada State Library and Archives' Fourth Festival of Trees and Silent Auction begins Monday through Dec. 7 at 100 N. Stewart St. Auction bids can be made between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fully decorated trees of all sizes, wreaths and other holiday craft items are held for silent auction. Book signing today for "Dempsey in Nevada"
The latest book "Dempsey in Nevada" by longtime Nevada author and journalist Guy Clifton will debut today at 4 p.m. today at the Sundance Bookstore, 1155 W. Fourth St., Suite 106. Clifton has spent the past two years detailing the story of Jack Dempsey, the heavyweight boxing champion of the 1920s and his time in the Silver State. "Dempsey In Nevada" sells for $24.95 and is published by Baobab Books and Jack Bacon & Co.
