Police: Woman jumped in front of truck

A woman was killed on Highway 395 near Topaz Lake about 5:30 p.m. this evening after she intentionally jumped into traffic, an official said.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Scott Simon said the accident happened in the soutbound lane at Pine Valley Road in the Double Springs area, which is between Gardnerville and Topaz Lake.

"According to witnesses, she jumped in front of a passenger vehicle and the passenger vehicle swerved to miss her. Unfortunately, the semi did not miss her," said Simon.

Simon said the posted speed at the scene is 65 mph.

He described the investigation as "lengthy" and said motorists should expect delays in the area.
